Annie and Chotch
Annie and Chotch is a short documentary that explores the life and love of Anna and Charles Costanzo, Maya's Grammy and Poppy. Love is hard to define and sometimes even harder to find, though the Costanzos have made it look easy for 54 years and counting.

A Self Portrait
Maya wrote, filmed, and edited this piece: A Self Portrait. It explores the life and feelings of someone processing life and school and thoughts and feelings in a pandemic world, missing life (and herself) as she knew them, as we knew them. This piece was nominated for a Visions Award in the category of Outstanding Undergraduate Documentary Film by American University's film department in May of 2021.
Macbeth Trailer
Maya story boarded, co-directed, and edited this promotional trailer for Macbeth, a 2021 virtual theatrical production which she was the Director of with the American University Rude Mechanicals. Siena Maxwell served as the Assistant Director for this production as well as the trailer's Videographer and Sound Editor.
D.C. Stoddert Soccer Promotion
D.C. Stoddert Soccer is a Washington, D.C. based local non-profit organization that provides soccer programming for over 5,000 children from the D.C. area. This video was created in collaboration with Julia Neff throughout American University's Visual Literacy Course to promote D.C. Stoddert Soccer's Tots Program for children ages 3-4
Photo Roman: Go Ask Alice
Go Ask Alice is a photo roman project created using all found footage and sound. It explores the history and impact of the War on Drugs and on crime in the United States. Trigger warnings for hard drug use and mentions of police brutality.
Maya studied abroad in Madrid, Spain at the American University Madrid Center in the Spring of 2020. Though her experience was cut short due to COVID-19, she was happy to be able to catalogue the moments you see here from program trips to Toledo, Rascafría, and the south of Spain.
